Troubleshooting Guide

This article will address the most common issues for Instructors on HowNow. Please make sure to go through them to determine if you are experiencing any issues when running your class on HowNow.

Download Google Chrome

 HowNow is best used in Google Chrome. We are currently including functionality in other browsers including FireFox. Both Internet Explorer and Safari do not have the protocols to run HowNow and we advise that you switch to a browser with these capabilities.

Use a Laptop or Desktop

Use a laptop or a desktop, and not a phone or a tablet. It may be possible to take a HowNow class using a phone or a tablet, but we can’t guarantee that it will work, and that you will have a good experience, which is our number one priority.

If you are using a desktop, please ensure that you have a webcam connected. If you do not have a webcam, we recommend this one

 

Your Internet Connection

If possible, make sure you’re connected via Ethernet. HowNow calls need a strong connection for the best results, so it you can use ethernet it’s a good idea to do so. If not, try to situate yourself in an area you know has a strong Wi-Fi signal.

 

Allow Permission to Use Your Camera

Make sure that you’ve allowed the use of your camera. This will most likely happen automatically, but if you have any doubts go to your Chrome settings and make sure that access to your camera is set to ‘Always’.

 

If you're having issues, please do the following:

  • Make sure that you’ve taken all of the steps above.
  • Try closing the class and rejoining.
  • Try clearing your cache and then restarting your browser.

Apple Users

If you’re an Apple user the likelihood is that your default browser is not Chrome. If you’ve followed the link from one of your confirmation emails this may not have opened in Chrome. You will need to open Chrome, visit learnhownow.com and log in there. You’ll be able to join your upcoming session using the notifications icon.

Windows Users

If you’re a Windows user the likelihood is that your default browser is not Chrome. If you’ve followed the link from one of your confirmation emails this may not have opened in Chrome. You will need to open Chrome, visit learnhownow.com and log in there. You’ll be able to join your upcoming session using the notifications icon.
